• Study of ridged gardens via phytolith analysis and humic acid analysis.

• Soil carbon chemistry in cropped and never-cropped systems through humic and fulvic acid analyses.

• Study of intercropping in maize, beans, squash, and sunflowers with multiple treatments of locally sourced soil enrichment materials; their effect on soil quality, plant health and crop yield. 

• Domestication of regional (native Iowan) Chenopodium berlandieri. Currently in year #10-11.

• Ongoing projects growing 2 maize landraces, study of potential for differentiating maize landraces from archaeological samples via cob phytoliths – is it a high or low resolution issue?
